Super Bowl LVII: Everything You Need to Know

The NFL is capping off its 2022 season with Super Bowl LVII. This should be an exciting game, and we expect an explosive halftime show that rivals last year's star-studded performance. Here's everything you need to know about Super Bowl LVII.

When Does Super Bowl LVII Air?

The Super Bowl is planned to air at 6:30PM ET (3:30PM ET) on Sunday, February 12th. It takes place at the State Farm Stadium in Glendale, Arizona---the home of the Arizona Cardinals (and the venue for the annual Fiesta Bowl)

Note that this is the first "neutral" Super Bowl venue in two years. The Los Angelos Rams played at their home field in 2022, as did the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in 2021.

Who's Playing at the 2023 Super Bowl?

The Philadelphia Eagles and Kansas City Chiefs headline this year's Super Bowl. This is the first time that the two teams are meeting at a Super Bowl, though notably, the Chiefs have beaten the Eagles in every matchup since 2013. (Interestingly, the Eagles are favored in this matchup.)

The Eagles previously won Super Bowl LII in 2018. It was one of the most exciting games in Super Bowl history, and Philadelphia fans hope that their team will replicate its success this year. Of course, the Chiefs won Super Bowl LIV in 2020, so both teams are riding a wave of high expectations.

Another Huge Halftime Show

Last year's Super Bowl halftime show featured an iconic performance from Snoop Dogg, Dr. Dre, Mary J. Blige, Kendrick Lamar, 50 Cent, and a host of other stars, including Anderson PAAK. We expect this year's halftime show to be just as bombastic, though the playbill focuses on one artist---Rihanna.

After nearly a nearly seven-year-long break from live performances, Rihanna is making her comeback at Super Bowl LVII. She's hinted that a few guest stars will share the stage during her 12-minute performance, though the guests are yet to be announced.

Note that this is the fourth Super Bowl halftime show to be produced by Jay-Z's Roc Nation. And, interestingly, Apple Music is replacing Pepsi as the halftime show sponsor.

Where to Stream the 2023 Super Bowl for Free

Every year, one of the United States' top three broadcasters (NBC, FOX, CBS) gets the rights to air the Super Bowl. We're relieved to say that FOX is in charge of broadcasting this year---unlike CBS and NBC, which air the Super Bowl at a meager 1080p resolution, FOX broadcasts the game in 4K HDR.

But if you're like me, you don't have cable or a live TV streaming subscription. You'll have to watch the Super Bowl for free with a streaming app---as always, there are several options.

These are live TV streaming services, meaning that they offer cable TV channels through the internet. Obviously, all four of these services cost money, but they offer free trials for new subscribers.

You can also watch the Super Bowl for free with antenna TV, assuming that FOX is available in your area. I don't suggest buying a TV antenna just for the Super Bowl, though you should certainly have one in your home to enjoy free, high-quality TV.

And, if you're willing to ask a family member or friend for their cable login, you can stream the Super Bowl at the FOX Sports website. (You could also stream the FOX channel in a cable provider's respective app.)
