A Texas man was gunned down at a McDonald's for reportedly stepping in during a confrontation between a customer and a restaurant employee.

Houston police responded to a shooting at 8147 Katy Freeway on Saturday and found a 46-year-old man unresponsive with multiple gunshot wounds.

Paramedics pronounced that the victim was dead at the scene, according to police.

The victim was Jeffrey Limmer, an attorney in the Houston area, according to local media reports.

Limmer's sister told KTRK her brother was shot and killed when he tried to calm down an angry customer who was upset about their order.

Houston police stated in their news release that the preliminary investigation indicated the victim was shot after a verbal disagreement.

The argument between the victim and the alleged shooter escalated when both went outside. According to KTRK detectives said Limmer pushed the customer to the ground.

Shortly after, the customer reportedly went to a vehicle and returned, shooting Limmer.

According to police the alleged shooter fled the scene in an early 2000s blue Ford pickup truck.

A Houston police spokesman confirmed to The National Desk as of Wednesday, the shooter had not been caught.

Limmer was known for helping others, according to his sister.

"Knowing Jeff, he's the one who always says, 'Calm down. It's not that big of a deal,' and divert the situation," Jennifer Thomas told KTVR. "He's always wanted to fight for the little guy and do the right thing."

Police are looking for tips that can help them solve this murder case.

Footage from the incident has not been released by the authorities.

While the investigation continues, Thomas said she and her family want justice and called her brother a "good Samaritan" who was "trying to do the right thing."
