BIOGRAPHY
Manolo Caro is a Mexican film and theater producer, screenwriter and director. He began his career making short films, as director and screenwriter of Motel (2004), Gente bien… atascada (2007) and Lulú la del fuego (2008). Later he made the leap to feature films, starting with I don’t know whether to cut my veins or leave them long (2013), which was an adaptation of his original play of the same name. Other films by Manolo Caro are: the documentary The fabulous and pathetic story of a montage I love Romeo and Juliet (2014), the romantic comedies Amor de mis amores (2014), Elvira, I would give you my life but I am using it (2014) and The immoral life of the ideal couple (2016). In 2018, Caro ventured into making content for television and wrote, produced and directed the successful Netflix series, La casa de las flores . Also this year he directed the Mexican adaptation of the story of Perfect Unknowns (2018), an original Italian film that has also been successfully adapted by Spain. Manolo Caro has become known for his stories full of black humor and tributes to great filmmakers, for example, Pedro Almodóvar, from whom he has borrowed the resource of imposing female roles. 2018 left a year full of new projects for Caro, in addition to international exposure after having ventured into the streaming format. It has not yet been confirmed what his new project will be on the big screen, but he has assured that The House of Flowers will have a second and third season on Netflix.
