GREENSBURG - A man charged with killing a western Pennsylvania police officer in a wrong-way crash while he was intoxicated has pleaded guilty to charges in the case.

Clair Fink pleaded guilty Friday to third-degree murder and drunken driving charges over the head-on crash that killed Ligonier Township Police Lt. Eric Eslary last year.

The crash left Eslary's police dog injured.

Thirty-three-year-old Fink made the plea at a brief hearing in Westmoreland County court.

Prosecutors say Fink and a coworker had spent the night drinking before the May 2015 crash on Route 30.

Fink has apologized to Eslary's family in the past, but on Friday he says he "was told he couldn't say anything" and wouldn't answer any questions.

Fink will return to court in about three months for sentencing.
