CAMBRIA COUNTY, Pa. (WJAC) — A Dunkin Donuts manager in Cambria County faces charges after stealing from the business, police say.
According to police, 35-year-old Chelsea Columbus is facing more than a dozen felony-related theft charges.
According to West Hills Regional Police Department, officers received a call in January from the Dunkin Donuts’, located on Minno Drive, district manager who stated he was at the business and had confronted Columbus about some missing bank deposits, but that Columbus had since left the building.
Officers say they spoke to the district manager who reported that he had noticed some discrepancies in the store’s bank deposits.
Police say the district manager reported that other Dunkin Donut officials found full days of deposits missing throughout the month of December.
When the district manager confronted Columbus, she denied the allegations, but the district manager then found that there were about $80 missing from the drawers that day, according to police.
The district manager reported to police that he told Columbus that there were four days’ worth of deposits, totaling $2,641.34, that never made it to the bank, according to charging documents.
The district manager told officers that Columbus explained that she had been having financial troubles since her father passed away and she was planning on paying the money back, according to police
After being terminated, Columbus left the business without returning her keys and was unable to be located or reached, so a locksmith had to be called to replace all the locks, according to police.
Police say restitution, totaling $2,795.94, is being sought.
