District officials recently announced that the app would be available for Android, iOS and Kindle platforms "in order to further support the strategic goals of the district," according to a notice from the district.
“This app is the next level for us in increasing stakeholder involvement in our schools," said Mathew Swerdloff, the district's director of technology, in the release. "I was delighted when (Superintendent) Joe Hochreiter asked me to develop the app. Along with our Parent Portal app, it will provide real-time access to calendar events, news items, photos, and social media feeds. I am looking forward to releasing version 1.0 in October of the HenHud Mobile App.”
Hochreiter said he has used a mobile app "with great success" at a previous school district, according to the release.
“It is no secret that parents, students and community members are receiving more information on mobile devices," Hochreiter said in the release. "This is an opportunity for our communication system to better meet their needs. It has been a goal of mine to streamline our communication to be more timely and provide increased opportunities to share our successes. This will be a great help and are excited to be one of a small group of districts in the Hudson Valley to have an app.”
Parents and community will be notified when the app is ready for download later this month.
