SOMERSET COUNTY, Pa (WJAC) — A ceremony was held in Somerset County Monday evening to honor the now former Somerset Chief of Police for his years of dedication and sacrifice to the community as he heads off for retirement.
The ceremony was held at the Somerset borough building with officials and community members in attendance.
Chief of Police Randy Cox was recognized in front of his family and friends for his 47 years of service.
Chief Cox spoke of how much the sendoff means to him and the many changes that he has experienced during his time in law enforcement.
Chief Cox says that they've come a long way since "paper tablets" were inside the police cruiser.
Three additional officers were also recognized, Officers Kevin Huzsek, Sergent Steven Borosky and Officer Eric Grus, for helping to rescue an elderly woman who was trapped in a house fire earlier this year.
